MarketWatch: Alternative Energy Capital Cycle in Early Stages

Analysts at the New York based Jefferies Group Inc. are telling investors that the alternative energy field is at “the very early stages of the capital cycle.” Overall trends such as global warming realization, energy security needs, and technological advances are causing there to be larger involvement from hedge funds, venture capitalists and other major investors in alternative energy fields such as wind power, solar power, ethanol and biofuel, power storage, and other categories.

This leads Jeff Lipton, managing director of the General Industries Banking Group at Jeffries Group to believe that all this investment coming into the alternative enegy field won’t dry up even if the price of oil starts dropping.
