Cape Cod Wind Farm Moving Ahead?
By MB-BigB | July 29, 2006
DARTMOUTH, Massachusetts (Reuters) - Backers of a plan to build the first large U.S. offshore wind-power farm said on Thursday they were confident the project would clear a regulatory review after being nearly derailed in Washington.
The public comment period for the plan ended yesterday. This is the plan that called for 130 wind turbines to be build in Nantucket Sound within view (5 miles) of some of the wealthiest land owners in the state (including Sen Ted Kennedy). The plan was almost killed in Washington, but revived by both Democrat and Republican congressman upset at the overt NIMBYness shown by those against the plan.
