A Different Type of Solar Power - Hybrid Solar Lighting
By MB-BigB | August 8, 2006
What’s Hybrid Lighting? It’s where mirrors on the roof collect sunlight and pipe it into your building using small bundles of fiber optic cables. The Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory currently have five hybrid solar ighting systems already in place and another 20 ready to go within a couple of months.
According to the article in Pollution Online, the hybrid solar lighting systems show “potentially significant energy savings in lighting and maintenance costs. An added benefit is that, for most uses, natural light is vastly superior to artificial light.”
