Texas to build power lines for wind power developers
By MB-BigB | October 3, 2006
NBC5i.com (Dallas/Ft. Worth) is reporting that Texas Gov Rick Perry has come to an agreement with the Texas private sector for a $10 billion investment guarantee for wind energy development in exchange for the state building the necessary power lines. While the agreement isn’t formal, it does represent a significant step forward for Texas wind power and the expected development would generate about 10,000 megawatts of electricty - enough to power about 2.3 million homes.
Texas is currently the US top producer of wind energy.
