From Reuters - European Group raises silicon solar cell efficiency
By MB-BigB | November 14, 2006
Reuters was reporting today that an European consortium called CrystalClear, consisting of a number of companies and institutes including the Dutch energy research center ECN, has announced that their researchers have increased the conversion efficiency of large-area multicrystalline silicon solar cells to 18 percent, which is a record for those types of solar power cells.
ECN, who made the announcement, expect that the increase in efficiency will cut the cost of producing these solar cells in half.
