Reunion Power to reduce town’s electric bills in exchange for wind farm

In Cherry Valley, New York, Reunion Power said that it will reduce all the residential electric bills in the town by about 50 percent for the next 20 years. While Reunion Power can’t sell power directly to the town residents, it can reduce the local electric bills through a partnership with NYSE Solutions.
The company said that they would pay all the cost of supplying electricity to residential customers, up to 490 kilowatts per month. Residents would still have to pay for the cost of delivering the electricity, which usually comes to about 50% of the bills.
The offer is based on the successful development, permitting and construction of the East Hill Wind Farm. The proposal so far has been a controversial one.
