Rales, Lichtman focus on cutting U.S. dependence on foreign oil
Two Democratic U.S. Senate candidates stepped into the debate over rising energy prices today, offering plans they said would reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil.
Montgomery County businessman Josh Rales offered a detailed, 22-page plan called “An Energy Strategy for the 21st Century” that he said would reduce use of foreign oil by 4 million barrels a day over the next 10 years. The United States now consumes about 21 million barrels of oil a day, more than 60 percent coming from foreign countries, Rales said.
