APS dedicates New Mexico wind farm that will power 23,000 homes

By MB-BigB | May 13, 2007

Arizona Public Service Co, which is Arizona’s largest utility, has dedicated a new wind power facility that will produce enough electricity for up to 23,000 homes.

The wind farm consists of 90 wind turbines located outside of Santa Rosa in earstern New Mexico. The turbines add 90 additional megawatts to electricity to the APS grid. The 90 additional megawatts boosts APS’s renewable energy generation by almost 600 percent, since they were only generating 16 megawatts from renewable sources before the new farm went online. All 90 turbines are now operational.
