Bucks County, PA to be new home for largest east coast solar power facility

Ground was broken today on the new Exelon-Epuron Solar Energy Center, located in Falls Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The plant will consist of 17,000 solar panels on 16.5 acres of land that belongs to Waste Management. When completed around September or October of this year, the plant will be the fourth largest photovoltaic plant in the US, and the largest on the east coast. It will output 3,700 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, enough to power about 400 homes. The panels are being designed and installed by Suntechnics Energy Systems Inc, and the plant is expected to cost between $16 and $20 million.
