The Energy Ball wind turbine

By MB-BigB | September 3, 2008

A Swedish company named Home Energy has just released a new wind power turbine that spins in a circular fashion and also looks very cool. According to Inhabitat, the Energy Ball uses a principle called the Venturi Effect, which channels air thru the six blades and around the generator. This results is a very efficient and very quiet wind turbine that can operate in very low wind speeds.

Inhabitat doesn’t mention anything about pricing or availability of the Energy Ball, although it looks like the company is the in process of lining up distributors in North America. The Home Energy web site has lots more pictures and spec sheets, if you’re interested, and also there’s a video of the Energy Ball in action, although its in Swedish.
