Sunday, June 18th, 2006From Isreal21c comes an article about plans to build a solar power plant in the Negev desert which will provide 50% of the country’s electricity needs within 15 years. The plant, which is expected to start producing power in 2 and a half years, will also provide electricty to neighboring Jordan.

Largest Wind Power Plant in Canada Officially Opens
Saturday, June 17th, 2006A new 150 megawatt wind power facility opened Weds June 14th in southwest Saskatchewan. The plant, which is currently the largest of its kind in Canada, will provide enough power for 64,000 homes. Saskatchewan now generates 5% of the province’s total electrical capacity via wind.

Toyota to double hybrid line “soon after 2010″
Wednesday, June 14th, 2006According to Reuters, Toyota plans to sell 1 million hybrids annually soon after 2010. They plan to do this by doubling the number of hybrids in its lineup, and by including hybrid tech in other powertrains, such as diesels.

New solar power project comes online in Nevada
Sunday, June 11th, 2006From the Reno Gazette-Journal comes news of the completion of the first of six solar power installations planned for Southern Nevada. When all finished, the plants will generate a combined 3.1 megawatts of power, enough for 225 to 700 households, depending on the season.
