If you’re in the market for a new hybrid, or just want to see what’s out there, head on over to the Auto123.com site for a good review of the 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid.
The Honda Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) powertrain is a little different than the hybrid system used in the Toyota Prius. In the Honda Civic Hybrid, the electric motor by itself can’t move the car, but Honda’s IMA system is always fully operational, whether on the highway or under acceleration, to provide additional horsepower to the engine which reduces gas usage. The Honda Civic hybrid saves more fuel on the highway than in stop and go traffic, which is the opposite of the Prius.
Overall, Auto123.com feels that the “2008 Honda Civic Hybrid delivers the goods in terms of fuel economy (even though potential savings turn out to be less than advertised), handling, driving pleasure and value. In fact, it’s the most affordable hybrid on the market.”
