Kia Motors Showing Off New Hybrid Rio

Kia Motors is planning to debut its new Rio Hybrid at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show, according to Edmunds.com. While it doesn’t look like the car will actually go on sale in North America until 2008, Kia plans to conduct a 4,000 car “real world” test in Korea over the next year. No pictures available yet, but the hybrid Rio will pair s 90 horsepower 1.4 liter 4 cylinder gas engine with a 12 kilowatt electric motor. The car was developed in conjunction with Kia’s parent company Hyundai.

    Kia will be reproducing the CeeÂ’d hatchback this year. The new vehicle will be the first Kia car to be designed by Peter Schreyer, the design boss who recently defected from Volkswagen.
