Plug-in Prius testing ahead of schedule

While Toyota has announced that they will start fleet testing their plug-in Prius a year early beginning in early 2009, they still have not announced a date when the plug-in Prius will be available to the public. Still, their recent announcement means that work is proceding smoothly on the car. Beginning in early 2009, Toyota will be delivering several hundred plug-in Priuses to government and commercial fleets for field testing. Toyota is making it clear that they won’t sell the car until they are convinced that the lithium-ion batteries used are completely safe.
