Toyota plans U.S. sales of plug-in Prius by 2012

At a recent conference in Los Angeles, the Toyota group vice president for its U.S. sales unit, Irv Miller, said that Toyota  plans to come to market with its plug-in Prius in 2012.    Road testing is about to begin in the U.S. with 150 plug-in Priuses using lithium-ion battery packs.    While Toyota has previously talked about developing a plug-in hybrid, this was the first time Toyota has made an announcement setting a date for retail sales.
