German Foreign Ministry – New Solar Power much cheaper than oil

A new study released by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety claims that Europe could cut CO2 emissions by 70% by the year 2050 and phase out nuclear power by replacing its older power plants with new alternative fuel plants. One of the methods described is to use Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) which uses the sun to heat water to steam to drive turbines, rather than converting sunlight directly to electricity via photovoltaic panels.
