Kohl’s Corp. announced this week that they will convert most of their California department stores to solar power starting next month. Plans are to convert 24 stores by the end of this year and another 40 by the end of 2008. Each store will get about 2,300 SunEdison supplied solar panels on the roof, and the panels are expected to provide about 40 perecent of the store’s power. In total, they expect to generate more than 35 million kilowatt hours of electricity ni the first year. Kohl’s is also investigating solar options in seven other states.
