Lennar to Include Solar Power Systems in All New High-End Homes
By MB-BigB | February 25, 2007
Lennar, one of the country’s largest home builders, says that they will install solar power systems in all its new homes in the California Bay Area. Each syste, which will generate 2.3 kilowatts of solar power, will probably cost between $12,000 and $15,000, which is cheaper than the typical residential solar system due to scale and volume. In addition, there are incentives of $2.60 a watt for new home systems, and homeowners are also eleigible for a one-time $2,000 federal energy tax credit. In addition, any homeowners who create more power than they use with these systems will receive a credit on their bill.
