Nanosolar update – winning awards and ramping up production

It’s been awhile since I mentioned Nanosolar – the California based startup that is beginning to ramp up production of its thin film Powersheet at its two new plants in San Jose, California and Berlin, Germany. Nanosolar has just been awarded Popular Science’s Innovation of the Year and Greentech awards. Nanosolar Powersheet

Nanosolar’s San Jose plant, when in full production in 2008, will produce 430 megawatts’ worth of solar cells a year, which is “more than the combined total of every other solar plant in the US. The first 100,000 cells will be shipped to Europe, which a consortium will be building a 1.4 megawatt power plant next year.”
