Fisherman’s Energy ready to start building New Jersey offshore wind farm

Fisherman’s Energy of Cape May says that they’re ready to start building.    The company, which is waiting for New Jersey officials to give their final OK, plans to build five wind turbines 2.8 miles off the coast of Atlantic City, producing 25 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 10,000 houses.

The company hopes that the NJ Board of Public Utilities will decide on the company’s offshore wind farm proposal by March, and if approved, will start construction in the fall – with a goal for the wind farm to be up and running and fully operational by Labor Day 2013.
