Wind Turbines in New Mexico Sending Power to Arizona

On Friday, The Arizona Public Service Co starting receiving power from wind power turbines located in New Mexico. The 20 year agreement between APS and the Aragonne Mesa Wind Farm in eastern New Mexico will send 5 megawatts of wind generated power into Arizona, enough to power about 25,000 homes. According to APS, this is the first of many alternative power projects that will be coming online. APS already produces 10 megawatts of geothermal power and 6 megawatts of solar power as it works towards meeting a 15% renewable energy standard required by Arizona.
